TN
That U.S. opportunity is worth a conversation. Explore professional work through the TN pathway.
Orford applicants may have a foreign degree, a short US assignment, family financing or an approaching birthday in the household. Each raises a specific question. Preparation should use the actual evidence and applicable rule rather than assume one convenient fact settles the whole case.

Explore TN, L-1A, L-1B, E-2, EB-5 and Gold Card through illustrative planning questions. These situations are not claims about local applicant patterns or different US eligibility rules.
Choose what brings you here. Leave with a short list of things to discuss—not another long form to fill out.
Separate evaluation and practice permission.

An evaluation is distinct from a practice licence. A short assignment does not waive qualifying employment. A gift label should not hide repayment, and paying a processing charge does not establish a permanent age freeze.

A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.
State the qualification, service period, funding condition or family issue. Then write the single rule that governs it, such as the listed profession’s credential, the one-year foreign employment test, the irrevocable commitment of funds or the age of twenty-one.
Use actual records rather than a convenient label or estimate. That means the diploma and transcript rather than a résumé line, payroll records rather than a reference letter, and bank statements rather than a spreadsheet of what was intended.
Distinguish current requirements from assumptions about future events. A child’s birthday, a lease expiry or a fee change already scheduled belongs on a dated timeline so that the filing is planned around it instead of hoping it arrives later.
Keep work permission, payments and residence milestones separate. Record for each family member what activity their own status allows, which fees have actually been paid to a government, and which residence decision is still pending at each date.
A clear assessment identifies which facts satisfy which conditions. Keep dates, funding obligations and individual eligibility visible so the next decision rests on the actual proposal.
Find your pathwayBring the underlying records and identify assumptions that need checking. Confirm professional scope, responsibilities and fees. Private estimates and family intentions should remain distinguishable from official instructions and actual permission.

No. A TN is tied to the employer named in the letter, so a new employer means a new TN before day one. As a Canadian you may present the new letter and credentials at a port of entry, or the new employer may file Form I-129 and you begin only once it is approved. Working for two employers at once needs a TN for each, and the old TN does not cover a promotion that changes the profession.
E-2 status exists only while you develop and direct the qualifying enterprise. Once the sale closes, the basis for the status ends, and remaining in the United States requires a change to another status or departure within the period allowed. A new venture does not inherit the old registration; it must be qualified on its own committed capital, treaty-national ownership and nonmarginality. Time the closing against the family’s E-2 admissions, since dependants lose status with you.
