A direct EB-5 business and corporate Gold Card sponsorship require different evidence and financial commitments. EB-5 concerns qualifying at-risk capital and jobs. Gold Card uses a gift framework within applicable immigrant classifications. Neither a payroll roster nor an employer benefit promise establishes the entire case. The first comparison should separate a capital-and-jobs record from a payment-and-immigrant-classification record. Hypothetical example: a Sherbrooke wastewater-process engineer can fund a Missouri filtration company or accept Gold Card sponsorship from a U.S. engineering employer; the decision is whether to undertake EB-5 business risk and job creation, or meet the separate Gold Card payment and eligibility framework.
Apply the EB-5 job definition
Generally at least ten qualifying full-time jobs per investor are required. Work authorization alone does not make every worker count, and investor family exclusions apply. Review the applicable capital threshold, lawful source and path and the actual project structure as separate requirements. For EB-5, assemble source-and-path records, enterprise documents, a position-level job model, and evidence that the capital is at risk. The investor must decide whether the plan can create the required qualifying jobs and support conditional residence through the later stage. A payment to an adviser or a project reservation alone does not resolve those core conditions.
Price the actual Gold Card arrangement
The corporate principal gift is US$2 million and the individual principal gift US$1 million, with a US$15,000 non-refundable fee per person. Eligible joining relatives add US$1 million gifts each. Separate corporate maintenance and transfer terms from private employer repayment obligations. For Gold Card, keep the applicant’s underlying EB-1 or EB-2 evidence distinct from the government payment proof and any private sponsor agreement. It is not conventional visa investment. The required payment is made by the applicant to the U.S. government; it does not purchase equity, replace job creation evidence, or convert a corporate promise into approval.
Separate payment from the immigration outcome
Gold Card still requires applicable EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility, admissibility and visa availability. EB-5 involves its own residence and later removal-of-conditions steps. Neither payment guarantees approval, employment permission, repayment of invested capital or citizenship. Choose only after comparing the actual obligations: EB-5 asks for qualifying capital at risk, jobs, and compliance after conditional residence, while Gold Card requires the applicable immigrant eligibility and payment framework. Both require admissibility and visa availability. The reader should decide which record can be supported now, not which label sounds faster or simpler.
