Identify the employee’s actual decisions and the relevant context without exposing unnecessary confidential information.
Attribute work accurately
A team report may include decisions by several people. Explain the applicant’s part and preserve truthful attribution instead of presenting every successful recovery as that individual’s work.
Start with a chronological incident index listing the problem, company-specific process, applicant’s decision, other contributors, and confirming record. Preserve original tickets, change logs, training records, and supervisor explanations; redact customer secrets only as needed while retaining context. A team report should not be rewritten to credit every result to one person. Connect examples to proposed American tasks and explain why they reflect special product knowledge or advanced procedural knowledge, not general competence. The petition must document related organizations and one continuous qualifying foreign year in the preceding three. When the beneficiary will be stationed primarily at an unaffiliated worksite, contracts and supervision evidence must show that the client will not principally control and supervise the beneficiary and that the placement relates to a product or service requiring petitioner-specific specialized knowledge rather than labour for hire; the aggregate L-1B ceiling is five years.
Hypothetical example: a North Hatley engineer working on medical-refrigeration monitors appears in outage reports alongside programmers and installers. She should annotate, not alter, the records to identify her sensor-calibration choices and the data prompting them. Release notes, access logs, and her manager’s factual account can corroborate that role. Omitting team contributions would invite credibility questions, while disclosing unrelated customer details would add risk without proving specialized knowledge.
