NORTH HATLEY · GOLD CARD FIELD GUIDE

As a North Hatley applicant, does a bank’s completed-transfer status mean I can set the US move date?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Bank completion is a payment event, not the final immigration permission.

Wait for the actual residence or admission basis

Track the government process and any outstanding instructions. Do not assume that settlement of funds guarantees visa issuance, admission, employment authorization or completion within an advertised period.

A bank status proves only that a transfer settled. The Gold Card sequence starts with an online filing and nonrefundable US$15,000 DHS processing payment. USCIS next prompts submission of Form I-140G with evidence, after which government vetting follows. The applicant is asked for a million-dollar gift to the United States only when that review succeeds. Approval must still rest on available EB-1 or EB-2 classification and admissibility. None of these steps is EB-5, nor should the gift be described as EB-5 capital. Check current official directions again before sending money, and schedule travel only after the actual visa, residence, or admission basis exists.

Hypothetical example: a North Hatley materials chemist sees her initial fee marked complete and books a fixed relocation date. She should instead track the USCIS prompt, I-140G filing, evidence requests, vetting result, gift instruction, classification decision, visa availability, and consular or adjustment stage applicable to her. The bank cannot confirm those events. Flexible housing and employment arrangements reduce the risk of acting before authorization, while a payment receipt remains proof solely of the completed transaction.
